Towson Holds Off William & Mary 99-86 In 2 OT

TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Jerrelle Benimon posted his 10th double-double of the season and Marcus Damas scored in double figures for the fifth straight game to help Towson beat William & Mary 99-86 in double overtime Wednesday night in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup.

William & Mary (7-7, 1-2), losers of four straight, built a 56-45 lead behind two Marcus Thornton (24 points) free throws midway through the second half. But Towson roared back to send the game into overtime.

The teams exchanged buckets in the first overtime before Thornton nailed a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left to send the game into another extra period.

Towson opened the second overtime on an 11-1 run to pull away.

Benimon finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds, Damas 19 points, Mike Burwell 18, Rafriel Guthrie 15 and Jerome Hairston 13 for Towson (8-8, 3-0), which has won four straight after snapping a four-game skid.
