250 Turn Out For Denton Day Of Service
DENTON, Md. (AP) -- About 250 people turned out in Denton for a day of service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Monday's event was the second in the Eastern Shore community. The event was described a "day on" instead of a day off for Caroline County students, who were able to earn service learning hours required for graduation.
A freedom march and a performance of King's "I Have a Dream" speech were also part of the events that coincided with the presidential inauguration in Washington.
Event organizer Wanda Molock told The Star Democrat of Easton that people talk about taking action all the time, and the event was an opportunity to do so.
