BALTIMORE (AP) — A Virginia woman has pleaded guilty to stealing identifying information to fraudulently obtain money from banks.

Breona Pittman, formerly known as Kevin Pittman, of Chesapeake, Va., entered the plea Wednesday in federal court in Baltimore. She faces a maximum of 30 years in prison at sentencing on May 1.

According to her plea agreement, Pittman, 33, conspired with others to use stolen identifying information. Pittman used the information to open fraudulent bank accounts, deposit counterfeit checks, and withdraw the money before the banks were aware.

Prosecutors say at least 10 victims lost a total of between $30,000 and $70,000 in the scheme.
