Md. Woman Pleads Guilty To Bribery Charges

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- A Rockville woman has pleaded guilty to taking bribes in exchange for falsifying drug tests.

Lauren Jeannette Diggs, 50, pleaded guilty on Thursday to conspiracy to seek and accept a bribe and making false statements to the grand jury. She faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison at sentencing April 22.

Prosecutors say Diggs was an alcohol and substance abuse counselor for a company that provides treatment services and urine tests. According to her guilty plea, Diggs and others sought and took bribes for performing and not performing court-mandated drug testing, and providing fake discharge certificates.
