Baltimore Official's Suit Over Phones Dismissed

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A lawsuit by Baltimore's comptroller over Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake's plan to install a phone system has been dismissed.

Baltimore City Circuit Judge Pamela White dismissed Joan Pratt's suit Wednesday evening. The comptroller had claimed that Rawlings-Blake's administration had circumvented the city's competitive bidding process in contracting with Digicon Corp. of Rockville.

The administration hopes to install an Internet-based phone system for city employees.

The Daily Record reports that Pratt declined to comment on the decision. City Solicitor George Nilson said he was pleased with the dismissal.
