Suspect In Slaying Of Pikesville Woman Identified

PIKESVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County police have released the name of a man charged in the death of a Pikesville woman with whom he had some sort of relationship.

Police say Jeffrey Michael Shiflett, 33, is being held without bail at the county jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

He was arrested Wednesday in the death of 33-year-old Katie Hadel, who was found stabbed inside her apartment Tuesday night. Police say two small children were found unharmed inside the apartment, and that Shiflett left before officers arrived.

It wasn't immediately clear if Shiflett had a lawyer. Detectives are still sorting out the connection between Hadel and Shiflett, but police say they appeared to have some relationship several years ago.

Hadel was married and her husband was out of town when she died.
