Couple Discovers Human Skull In Wooded Area In Laurel

LAUREL, Md. (WJZ)-- Police say a couple made a horrid discovery while hiking in a wooded area in Laurel.

Officers responded to the area of Spring Road and Whiskey Bottom Road around noon Sunday to meet with a man who reported finding suspected human remains off of Spring Road.

The man told officers  he and his girlfriend were bird watching and hiking when they observed what appeared to be a human skull in the woods.

The Medical Examiner was also contacted and responded to the scene.

The remains were recovered and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, which has since confirmed that the remains were human.

The cause and manner of death is undetermined at this time.
