UMES Says It Won't Restart Football Program

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP) -- The University of Eastern Shore says it won't restart the school's football program, citing a lack of money and personnel.

UMES President Juliette B. Bell said Thursday that she has accepted the recommendations of a task force she appointed. The task force evaluated an independent consultant's study of the benefits and costs of reinstating the football program.

The Daily Times of Salisbury reported that the task force found that fielding a Division I football team would be too costly right now, but the issue could be revisited in five years.
