Savannah State Tops Maryland-Eastern Shore 71-54
SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- Deven Williams scored 21 points to lead Savannah State to a 71-54 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore in the regular-season finale for both teams Thursday night.
Rashad Hassan scored 15, Arnold Louis 10 and Preston Blackman pulled down 11 rebounds with nine points for the Tigers (18-13, 11-5), who had lost three straight after a five-game winning streak.
Olatunji Kosile and Troy Snyder scored 12 each, with Snyder collecting 11 rebounds, and Kevin Mays had 10 points for the Hawks (2-25, 2-14), who have lost five in a row and 12 of 13.
The Hawks led 12-11 on Snyder's free throws with 11:44 left in the first half, but the Tigers went ahead 24-18 on Cedric Smith's three-point play with 6:51 remaining. From a 24-20 advantage at 6:22, Savannah State closed with a 13-4 run for a 37-24 lead at halftime.
Savannah State made six 3-pointers, Maryland-Eastern Shore one.
