Glenn Younes: Ravens Biz About Q

For those upset, shocked, angry or surprised about how Baltimore does its football business, you need a dose of reality. There is NO emotion in money, no feelings in business, the salary cap or the defined parameters the Ravens use to run their organization... A billion dollar organization. They are in the sports & entertainment business and they do it as well as any. They have a number they need to get to & that's the goal. Very simply, they want the most for the least & if that means asking Boldin to take a 2 million dollar cut, then so be it.

Fans have opinions, sports radio & newspapers get filled with content & controversy but business is business. A billion dollar business in a 10 billion plus a year industry. Boldin's cap number was outside the box they set to pay him. It's the business model they have. Maybe it's frugal or more, maybe it's cruel or cold or worse but it's affective. 2 Super Bowls in 17 seasons, 4 AFC Championship appearances and a playoff record to be proud of. It works. How they run their business works, and it's not about wins and loses. It's about Baltimore being the 8th most valuable franchise of the 32, Per Forbes. Boldin being traded to the 49ers is business for the long term. It's business, not personal... "Godfather".

I side with the players because their union is the weakest in any similar business but I'm not floored by the business tactics in Baltimore because I have proper expectations. I know how they do their work and as such I adjust my game. Those who don't adjust scream and yell, while the team will keep their model in play.
