HANOVER, Md. (WJZ) — Spring is in the air and Opening Day is just around the corner.

Adam May reports this weekend, Orioles fans are getting fired up.

Hundreds of Orioles fans crowded Arundel Mills for the first Operation Orange event of 2013.

“We’re big Orioles fans and I’m glad to share the experience with my kids now,” said Edward Harden.

The Bird greeted the youngest fans, while the voice of the Orioles got everyone pumped up.

“Getting everybody excited for Opening Day, the season’s starting in a couple days. We’re just trying to pick that momentum up from last year and keep it going into the new season,” said Ryan Wagner, voice of Oriole Park.

Orioles Hall of Fame catcher Chris Hoiles signed autographs.

“I think they’re pretty excited about baseball season coming back. So it’s great to see,” he said.

Events like this are taking place all week across Maryland, bringing out the diehard fans.

“I have been an O’s fan since birth, so 30 years now. I was one-year-old the last time they won,” said Henry Rensger Jr.

All are hoping 2013 will be a World Series year.

The Orioles’ regular season starts this week.

The home opener is Friday–just a week away–against the Minnesota Twins.

Our coverage begins at 2 p.m. and you can see the game live on WJZ-TV.
