Teen Arrested For Shooting BB Gun At Md. Officer
LAUREL, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police have arrested a teenager suspected of shooting at an on-duty police officer with a BB gun in Laurel.
Police said Saturday that 16-year-old Andre Christopher Rivers of Laurel was arrested Friday evening. An officer was patrolling in Laurel on Friday when he heard a projectile strike his driver's side door. Police say the officer thought he was being fired on and requested a search of the area.
Patrol officers stopped Rivers nearby. Investigators say he shot at the patrol officer with a BB gun. The gun was recovered.
Rivers is charged with first-degree assault and related charges. He is being charged as an adult in the case.
