Man Charged For Carrying Rifle On Villa Cresta Elementary School Grounds
PARKVILLE, Md. (WJZ)— A man spotted by parents carrying a rifle across school grounds faces multiple charges.
Baltimore County Police have charged Robert Cleary, 30, of Parkville, with disturbing school operations, possessing a dangerous weapon on school grounds and trespassing on school grounds.
Parents reported seeing him Monday afternoon running across a field behind the school, located at 2600 Rader Avenue in Parkville, with a long weapon before getting into a white van fleeing at the intersection of Rader and Ardmore avenues.
Detectives determined Cleary arranged to meet a friend at the intersection of Ardmore and Rader avenues so that he could get a ride to a pawn shop. He cut across school property while carrying the weapon.
Cleary pawned the Civil War era rifle at a nearby pawn shop and the rifle has been recovered by police.
Cleary was charged Wednesday and the summons was served Friday morning.
