Police: Man Tries To Stab Roommate Because He Didn't Pick Him Up From Work

CROWNSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) — A man faces multiple charges after police say he attempted to stab his roommate with a hunting knife last Monday night. Police say it all started over a ride home from work.

Police say it happened around 5:45 p.m. in the 1500-block of Crownsville Road.  They say Jeremy Earl Johnson, 38, was supposed to get a ride home from work by his roommate, who never showed. Johnson became angry and combative when he found his 40-year-old roommate in their apartment.

A fight ensued. According to the victim and at least one witness, Johnson pulled out a hunting knife and threatened to stab or cut his roommate. The victim then attempted to flee when Johnson threw the knife at him two times, missing both times.

Upon arrival, officers separated the two men and recovered the knife that was believed to have been used in the incident.

Johnson was arrested. His roommate sustained a small cut on his forearm but refused medical treatment.

Johnson is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and related charges.
