Girl Struck By Jeep In Randallstown Remains In Serious Condition

RANDALLSTOWN, Md. (AP/WJZ) -- Baltimore County police say an 11-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle in Randallstown on Thursday morning.

The girl lives in the 4100-block of Brookside Oaks Road in Randallstown. She was struck around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Offutt Road and Winands Road.

Preliminary investigation reveals the girl was walking westbound on the sidewalk of Winands Road. When she attempted to cross from one curb to another, she stepped in front of a 2013 Grand Cherokee Jeep, driven by Debra Shavitz, 58, of Pikesville.

Police say speed was not a factor in this accident and that Shavitz did not have time to avoid striking the girl.

The girl was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she remains in serious condition.
