Brittany Ghiroli

Orioles insider Brittany Ghiroli joined Ed & Steve to talk about early season baseball in Baltimore. Thanks to a walk-off Grand Slam by Matt Wieters the Orioles beat the Rays 10-6 in 10 innings to improve to 8-7 on the season. The Orioles will start a 3-game with the Dodgers Friday.

Steve asked about the big win and Matt Wieters hit. Brittany said that the game was a big win and the Matt Wieters homer was huge, and win is giving the team a very high note going into weekend against the Dodgers.

Ed asked Brittany about Steve Pearce finally getting a hit. Brittany told the guys that its definitely a good thing to get Steve Pearce going. It shows he can contribute and that Adam Jones and Chris Davis can't carry the team all year.

Steve asked about Miguel Gonzalez and the Orioles starting rotation not getting to the seventh inning. Brittany said they need the starters to go at least six innings because they are little bit nervous about who is going to eat innings. She said there has to be a lot of concern for the bullpen so they don't fade by August or September.

Ed asked about the base running and if that is a problem. Brittany said the team is definitely prepared but something is just sloppy about it and it seems to be happening on a nightly basis.

Lastly Steve asked Brittany about the missed calls by the umps. She said that it is something to be worried about because all the Orioles games have been close and these kind of calls can change the course of a game.
