Toddler Injured After Lawnmower Overturns At Md. Home
WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- The Carroll County Sheriff's office says a 2-year-old boy was critically injured when the lawnmower he was riding with his grandfather overturned into a stream.
Authorities say the man and his grandson were cutting grass at their home in Westminster on Sunday when the lawnmower tipped over as it crossed an embankment next to a stream. The boy was briefly trapped when the mower fell into the shallow water, but his grandfather was able to free him.
The boy was initially unresponsive, but the sheriff's office says rescue workers revived him before he was taken to Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore, where he was listed in critical condition.
Paramedics took the boy's grandfather to Carroll Hospital Center. Lt. Robert Cromwell says his injuries are not life threatening.
