Police Officer Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On Rt.100

PASADENA, Md. (WJZ) --An off-duty Bladensburg police officer has died from his injuries in a wrong-way crash on Route 100 in Pasadena.

Anne Arundel County police say the accident happened just after 9 a.m. Saturday.

The officer was traveling on the westbound side of the road in a marked police car when he swerved into the eastbound lane and struck another vehicle.

The officer was later pronounced dead.

The other driver was treated and released at the scene.

Police say a preliminary investigation suggests the officer may have suffered a medical emergency before the crash.

Rt. 100 westbound was closed from Magothy Bridge Road to Catherine Avenue and 100 eastbound was down to a single lane from MD 10 to Magothy Bridge Road for an extended period of time Saturday.
