CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) — A Maryland National Guard unit from Catonsville is deploying to Afghanistan.

The 200th Military Police Company held a deployment ceremony Wednesday.

Officials say 100 members will deploy for about one year in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The unit previously deployed to the Persian Gulf for operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield.

Members of the unit guarded the site of the Sept. 11, 2011, attack at the Pentagon and provided security for the presidential inauguration in 2009.
