Accident Halts Traffic On Route 50, Sends 3 To Hospital

QUEENSTOWN, Md. (WJZ) — A multi-car collision shuts down traffic on a major stretch of highway in Queen Anne’s County.

According to Maryland State Police, it all started with a driver going the wrong way.

Authorities say a Jeep heading west in the eastbound lanes of Route 50 crashed head-on into a tanker truck.

The 77-year-old driver of the Jeep then crossed over all the eastbound lanes, smashing into three additional vehicles.

The accident shut down traffic in both directions for nearly two hours.

In all, five vehicles were involved in the crash.

Three people were flown to Shock Trauma in unknown condition.

Police are investigating.
