Md. Flags At Half-Staff To Honor Fallen Officers

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Flags in Maryland are flying at half-staff in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day, a day honoring law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.

Gov. Martin O'Malley ordered the U.S. and Maryland flags flown at half-staff on Wednesday.

Peace Officers Memorial Day is celebrated on May 15 each year. The week that surrounds it is designated as National Police Week.
