S.C. Man Accused Of Posing As Contractor In Md.

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Frederick County officials say they're looking for a South Carolina man accused of posing as a home improvement contractor and ripping off an elderly resident.

The sheriff's office says James Anthony Carroll, of North Augusta, S.C., went door-to-door last month selling asphalt driveway sealing devices despite not having a license to act as a Maryland contractor.

The Frederick News-Post says Carroll charged an elderly homeowner thousands of dollars over what the job should have cost.

It wasn't clear if Carroll has a lawyer. No telephone number could be found for him.

Carroll has an outstanding warrant on charges of acting as a contractor without a license and obtaining more than $500 of property from a person over the age of 68.
