2 Teens Seriously Injured In Leonardtown Crash

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Authorities in St. Mary's County say two teenagers were seriously injured in a crash that caused their vehicle to split in half.

The crash occurred around 4:15 a.m. Sunday on Society Hill Road in Leonardtown.

The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Conner Nauman of Clements lost control of his 2003 Honda Accord, which hit a telephone pole and a tree. The car split in half after hitting the tree. Nauman and a 16-year-old girl who was riding in the front passenger seat were thrown from the vehicle.

The sheriff's office says both were flown to a trauma center with "incapacitating injuries." Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash.
