Steve Davis: Just Say No To Jamarcus
There are reports that the Ravens might work out Jamarcus Russell. I hope the reports are false. In fact, the reports might just be emanating from Russell or his camp.
To me, it doesn't make much sense. The guy is an absolute headache.
The Ravens have a back-up QB, Tyrod Taylor, who seems perfectly content being the back-up QB. Russell is one of the biggest busts in draft history, and he succumbed to two things that are always readily available if he wants to slip again: food and drugs.
This guy has no discipline. I can't imagine being away from football cured him of his temptations.
As we saw quickly with Rolando McClain, the Ravens don't need head-cases. They have been pretty good sticking to that approach.
Jamarcus Russell, to me, doesn't seem to be the kind of player for whom it would be worth it to making an exception.
