Condition Of Camden Yards Assault Victim Improving

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The condition of a Hagerstown man who sustained a head injury in a fight at Camden Yard is improving.

The Herald-Mail reported Friday that 25-year-old Matthew Fortese has been upgraded from critical to serious condition at Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Police say Fortese was punched in the head and fell off a 5-foot wall onto a concrete walkway while attending a May 29 Baltimore Orioles home game against the Washington Nationals.

Police say the episode began when a man threw beer on Fortese and his date. They say Fortese climbed the wall during the ensuring argument and another man punched him.

Both men are charged with assault.

Police say Fortese was wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap. The Orioles and Yankees are American League East Division rivals.
