Metro Train Hits Object Near Track, Disabled

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Metro officials say a red line train has been disabled near the Rhode Island Avenue station after it hit an object along the track.

Officials say no injuries were reported after the outbound train with 63 passengers aboard was disabled just after noon on Friday.

Metro says response personnel are on the scene and passengers will be transferred to another train through doors at the front of the train.

Metro warns that there will be delays along the red line until the disruption is resolved since rains are using just one track between the Takoma and NoMa-Gallaudet stations.
