Couple Celebrates 70 Years Of Marriage

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Frederick couple is celebrating 70 years of being married.

The Frederick News-Post reports Ray and Louise Horst celebrated their anniversary Wednesday. The couple live at a retirement community, Country Meadows of Frederick, where residents gathered for a champagne toast and cake.

The couple married on June 19, 1943 at a chapel in Riverside, Calif. They met and fell in love working together at a St. Louis plant that made ammunition for World War II. Ray Horst was drafted and served in the Army for nearly 30 years.

The now 90-year-old Ray Horst said of his anniversary that the couple will "work on it, but I don't think we will make it another 70."
