'High Heels For Hope' Fundraiser To Benefit House Of Ruth Md.

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It's not easy hitting a golf ball, and it's even tougher to do if you're wearing high heels.

But a lot of folks are planning to do that Saturday at Pine Ridge.

Ron Matz reports--it's all for a good cause.

It's a long drive straight down the fairway, and John Ladd did it wearing high heels.

You gotta kind of relax and just rely on your upper body and arm swing to kind of make things happen," said Ladd. "Everybody can do it."

You will have a chance at Pine Ridge on Saturday. It's the Third Annual High Heels for Hope. Jessica Kartalija will emcee.

It's a benefit for the House of Ruth Maryland.

"It's so important for us to raise money to provide the services that we do for the victims of intimate partner violence," said Cheri Parlaman, House of Ruth Md.

"We're grateful for DSW for their support and for WJZ and for the golf course for hosting this for the third year," she continued.

It's a tight squeeze, and walking them is not easy. DSW is providing the shoes and much more.

"The first 75 people get a pair of sunglasses and a $10 gift certicate for DSW and some tote bags. So it's all going to be a fun day," said Ladd.

So here's the deal: $5 for one ball, $20 for five. And it's all for a good cause.

"Every year it gets better. We've had people this year started asking us around March when the event was going to be happening. It is definitely becoming a summer event," said Parlaman.

Saturday's High Heels for Hope at Pine Ridge runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
