WEATHER BLOG: Hot Again

The intense heat and humidity that most of the Eastern Region has been experiencing the past couple of days will be getting tempered this weekend... But, that is little consolation for the stifling heat that will be felt today, and even tomorrow should 'feel like' its above 100 degrees, even though the actual temperature may be no higher than the mid 90s.

Thunderstorms that did manage to pop up yesterday provided very little relief from the hot and humid conditions, and most places overnight have failed to drop below 80 degrees... So, we will have a "springboard" today to vault temperatures into the upper 90s... Some neighborhood thermometers could even reach 100, and the Science Center may do just that.

There will be a Heat Advisory in effect from noon until 8 p.m. today, and thunderstorms appear as if they will be a much safer bet tomorrow, especially later in the day and at night... Temperatures with
at least some sunshine tomorrow will still wind up in the mid and perhaps the upper 90s, but there is a possibility that any thunderstorms which develop tomorrow could be strong or possibly even severe... Damaging winds and a drenching downpour are both possible, and then the tendency for the next front to "stall somewhere near the Mason-Dixon Line" on Sunday will keep our chances for getting a thunderstorm going -- even though we are definitely going to feel some relief from the most intense heat.
