New AACO Police Chief Takes Part In Pursuit

SEVERN, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County's new police chief took part in a 5-mile pursuit of a vehicle in Severn.

Police say Chief Kevin Davis, who became chief on July 15, was a passenger in an unmarked SUV being driven by Lt. T.J. Smith on Tuesday morning.

Officials say the two saw a car serving on Route 32 and tried to pull the car over by activating the police vehicle's emergency lights and siren.

The Capital of Annapolis reports that Smith and Davis called for a marked police car to assist. A cruiser responded, but the car's driver did not stop.

Stop sticks were deployed and the car came to a halt.

Davis talked with the driver, who was arrested.

Fifty-one-year-old Sandra Faye Davis of Severn was charged with driving while impaired.
