Senior NFL Columnist for CBSSports.com, Clark Judge joined Zinno to give a training camp update. There have been a rash of injuries around the league, including the Ravens who lost TE Dennis Pitta. With less hitting and less practices, it’s almost difficult to explain why there are so many injuries. “It’s a fluky thing,” said Judge. Pitta is a huge loss for the Ravens because of the departure of Anquan Boldin and the loss of Pitta, Joe Flacco has lost his safety net said Judge.
The Ravens have some challenges to make the playoffs this year and the trend states that one of the two Super Bowl teams misses the playoffs the following year. Judge says it won’t be the Ravens. He thinks the defense will be better than it was last year, despite the loss of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.
Finally, the conversation went to sophomore quarterbacks and who would likely be a candidate for a slump in year two. Judge said, “It won’t be Andrew Luck!” He said Luck is a special player that drew comparisions to John Elway. Judge thinks that the most likely candidate would be Robert Griffin III, mostly due to his recovering from a knee injury.
