Police In Howard County Fundraising For New Museum

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) -- Police in Howard County are raising money for a new police museum that is under construction.

Police are renovating a building on Main Street in Ellicott City to serve as a museum. The total cost of the project is expected to be $120,000.

Money for the project will come from donations from various individuals and organizations.

Renovation of an existing building is expected to cost $70,000 and about half of that has already been raised.

Additional money is needed for displays and the interior of the museum.

Police Department spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn says police hope to have the renovation complete by the end of the year.

Additional displays will be added in 2014.
