Woman Pleads Guilty After Ex-Boyfriend Is Struck

OAKLAND, Md. (AP) -- A woman who prosecutors say got into her ex-boyfriend's car, drove after him as he ran away and hit him has pleaded guilty to assault.

Maranda White, 20, entered the plea Thursday in Garrett County Circuit Court in Oakland. The Times-News of Cumberland says she faces up to 25 years in prison at sentencing in December.

Prosecutors say on March 25, 2012, White and her ex-boyfriend met in Oakland so she could return some of his property. Authorities say an argument ensued, White tried to hit the man, and he ran away.

Prosecutors say White got into the ex-boyfriend's car and chased him across some railroad tracks, a road and sidewalk into a park, where she hit him.

The boyfriend suffered leg injuries that required surgery, prosecutors say.
