4-Year-Old Accidentally Shoots Himself With Gun Found In Parked Car
LA PLATA, Md. (AP) -- The Charles County Sheriff's Office says a 4-year-old accidentally shot himself with a gun in a car parked in a driveway in La Plata.
It happened about 5:50 p.m. Thursday. Deputies say a woman was watching her grandson play outside when he went into a parked car.
Police say the woman heard a gunshot and the boy ran to her. She saw that he had a head injury and called 911.
Deputies say the boy was flown to a hospital, where he was treated for a graze wound and is expected to recover.
Police found a 9mm semi-automatic handgun in the car. Officers say it is registered to a relative of the child.
The incident remains under investigation.
