Man Likely Suffers Medical Emergency, Crashes Into Dumpster Behind Wendy's

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) -- Police are investigating a fatal accident in Anne Arundel County.

Officers first responded to a single-vehicle accident in the 6900-block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie Friday night.

When they arrived, they found the driver in full cardiac arrest.

He was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The initial investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling south on Crain Highway near Furnace Branch Road W.  The vehicle crossed over the center line into the northbound travel lanes.  Police say the vehicle swerved to avoid a northbound vehicle and left the roadway.

Police say the vehicle struck two signs at a McDonald's restaurant on Ritchie Highway, and then struck a dumpster located behind the Wendy's.

Police say the driver may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.
