Hunter, 76, Dies In Apparent Fall From Tree Stand

BISHOPVILLE, Md. (AP) — Maryland Natural Resources Police say a Delaware man is dead after he apparently fell from a tree stand while deer hunting.

The agency said Wednesday Richard Jenkins, 76, of Selbyville, Del., died Tuesday in Worcester County.

A spokeswoman says Jenkins had gone hunting Tuesday morning in nearby Bishopville, Md. When his wife hadn’t heard from him by Tuesday afternoon, she called a friend to check on him. The friend found Jenkins on the ground.

Investigators found a broken rung on the ladder Jenkins was using to reach the tree stand. They speculate he fell while climbing the ladder and hit his head.
