Priest Who Taught At Archbishop Curley Investigated For Alleged Abuse In 1970s

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Police are investigating an allegation that a Roman Catholic priest sexually abused a student while he was teaching at Baltimore's Archbishop Curley High School in the 1970s.

The Archdiocese of Baltimore says it's cooperating with the investigation of the Rev. Michael Kolodziej, a Franciscan Friar who taught at Curley from 1975 to 1979. Kolodziej is 69 years old and most recently served as vicar of a parish in Jonesboro, Ga. He has been suspended from public ministry.

The archdiocese said in a statement Thursday that a former student has alleged that Kolodziej abused him on several occasions while they were wrestling.

The archdiocese says it's not aware of any other allegations of misconduct against Kolodziej. He has also taught at schools in New York state and served in parishes in Lawrence and Chicopee, Mass.
