Ocean City Brewery Changing Name Following Lawsuit

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- An Ocean City brewery is changing its name following a lawsuit.

The Shorebilly Brewing Co. announced Wednesday on its Facebook page that it is hosting a contest to come up with a new name for itself.

The brewery's operator, Southbound One Inc., was sued in July by a company that sells T-shirts and other merchandise using the "Shorebilly" trademark.

Shorebilly Brewing Co. founder Danny Robinson says he made the business decision to change the name now because the brewery is planning to start distributing its beer outside the Ocean City area in the spring.

Robinson says suggestions for the company's new name have to be submitted by Dec. 31 but that the name will likely be chosen before then.
