Carroll County Opens Cold Weather Shelter

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- Carroll County has opened its cold weather shelter for the season.

Friday was the cold weather shelter's first night. The free shelter provides a hot meal, shower, laundry facilities and a warm place to sleep to local adults without a place to go.

The shelter will be open every evening through March 30. Guests can begin arriving at the shelter at 7 p.m. and stay for the next 12 hours.

The cold weather shelter is run by the Human Services Programs of Carroll County with the help of volunteers. Guests must be 18 years old or older to stay at the shelter.
