UMBC Beats Mount St. Mary's 90-84 In OT

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Rodney Elliott scored 26 points and led UMBC to a second-half comeback and victory against Mount St. Mary's in overtime, 90-84 on Sunday.

Joey Getz made a layup with 11 seconds remaining in regulation for the Retrievers (2-2) and a missed 3-pointer by Mount St. Mary's Will Miller sent the game into overtime.  UMBC had recovered from a four-point deficit in the final 36 seconds with a layup by Elliot and Getz's layup shortly after.

The Retrievers trailed by 14 points at the half and didn't get close to Mount St. Mary's until 2:14 remained in regulation, when UMBC closed on a 14-3 run to tie up the game.

The Mountaineers (0-4) made the first two points in overtime, but UMBC responded with seven-consecutive points.  Mount St. Mary's was unable to regain the lead. Julian Norfleet scored a game-high 28 points for the Mountaineers.
