Police: 2 Suspects Armed With Knife & Gun Robbed Victim Inside Towson Mall

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ)-- Another robbery in Towson. This time police say a suspect pulled out a gun right in the middle of Towson Town Center. This after a violent struggle with the victim and a security guard.

Meghan McCorkell has more on what happened.

The incident happened just after  4 p.m. Friday.  The search is on for two brazen suspects.

Police surrounded Towson Town Center searching for the two armed suspects.

"We're being told that there was an armed robbery here. The suspect on the loose," reported Captain Jeff Long in Sky Eye Chopper 13.

Investigators say a victim was inside the food court bathroom when two suspects flashed a knife and demanded money and a cell phone.

The victim handed them over, and then chased the two men through the mall--pinning one against a wall.

A security guard came to help and so did the other suspect.

A violent struggle ensued and police say one of the suspects pulled out a gun.

Both suspects got away.

The attack has shoppers on edge.

"We're just trying to be really cautious now and keep our eyes and ears open for whatever is out here," said shopper Greg White.

"It just shows you that people really don't care where they are. They will just do anything," said his daughter Taikira White.

Students at Towson University received a crime alert about the robbery--one of many recent campus wide alerts.

Earlier this month, a Towson University student was stabbed multiple times during a robbery near campus.

Police have made arrests in that case. But two other students were robbed just last weekend.

"After hearing all that, we were kind of scared to walk back here. So we have our pepper spray," said Towson University freshman Abby Bresnahan.

Now it appears thieves have gotten more brazen-- taking their crime inside the mall.

The latest victim was not injured.

Towson Town Center is equipped with more than 250 security cameras.

Police describe the suspects as two men between the ages of 18 and 20 years old. One was wearing a black baseball hat and a black polo jacket. The other was in a black leather jacket, dark jeans and a hoodie.
