WEATHER BLOG: Winter Weather Advisory

Winter weather advisories have been issued across the area and will go into effect as early as 3 a.m. for portions of western Maryland and 6 a.m. for portions of central Maryland lasting through Tuesday afternoon as our next storm system moves into the mid-Atlantic.

A brief wintry mix is possible Tuesday morning in the form of snow mixing to sleet to freezing rain and then to rain. That will make roadways slippery in some spots during the morning commute before changing over to all rain by Tuesday afternoon and evening.

A couple of inches of rain can be expected with this pre-Thanksgiving storm system and may cause localized flooding with the heaviest downpours possible overnight Tuesday through Wednesday morning and early afternoon.

Rain is then expected to taper to rain and snow showers by Wednesday night.
