Heavy Snow Causes Low Visibility In Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Police in Frederick are warning drivers to stay off the roads because of snowy conditions and low visibility.

Police said visibility was about 150 yards shortly before noon Sunday as snow began falling heavily in the region.

Up to 3 inches of snow were forecast in Frederick for the season's first winter storm. Frederick is about 50 miles west of Baltimore.

Snow emergency plans are in effect across western Maryland. That means drivers are advised to use snow tires and not to park their vehicles on snow emergency routes.
