Grave Markers At Veterans' Cemetery Moved
CHELTENHAM, Md. (AP) -- Officials with the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs say an employee operating a backhoe accidentally moved several grave markers.
The agency says it happened Monday when the ground at the Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery was saturated from rain. The lawn was also damaged.
Officials say employees have realigned and cleaned the markers. The topsoil is being distributed by raking and seeding.
Edward Chow, department secretary, says the agency is reviewing operating procedures.
