Pennsylvania Suspect Arrested After Chase In Md.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police have arrested a suspect after a chase that led into Hagerstown and ended with a single-car crash.

Police say a state trooper was patrolling on Interstate 70 in Washington County on Sunday morning when he spotted a stolen vehicle from Pennsylvania. The trooper tried to stop the vehicle, but it fled into Hagerstown.

Police say the suspect vehicle collided with a utility, and the suspect fled on foot but was apprehended after a short chase.

Police identified the suspect as Sengphet Vilaysane of Mercersburg, Pa. He was also found to be wanted for escape from custody in Harrisburg, Pa. Vilaysane has been charged with numerous traffic offenses and faces felony charges for the escape and possession of a stolen vehicle.
