WEATHER BLOG: Impending Weather

Good morning! Here is the bottom line. It will begin to snow Wednesday night between 8-Midnight. Snow will end later Thursday afternoon. We will clean up Friday, and have the weekend we deserve.

I have ranted here before about the hype and hysteria on social media about impending weather. I see no need to repeat myself here. For some, it is a cheap thrill. Hey, get your kicks on Route 66, or wherever...but here is the bottom line for me, and 98 percent of us on TV Hill: this ain't no fun.

"Hey let's have a blizzard" said no one working on TV or Radio EVER.

For hours we will be telling you not to go out, and where are we? Out in it. Then when the show is over we have to, somehow, get home and start our own cleanup. Maybe that is why just find it hard to buy into the hype. It is no game for us. It's real, and that keeps us grounded.

Rest assured that at the "Keen 13" we won't and will not hype it. You need the facts, and we give them to you when the facts become available. And sometime that is not until just a day before a weather event.

I have also ranted about you needing to focus in more on the timing than the amount. You need to know when to get off the streets, the amount of snow is the second line.

For the record here, locally, we are looking for a half a foot to a foot of snow. Past Mt. Airy look toward a foot. South and east of the bay rain, at Ocean City, to a half a foot on Kent Island. (Do note, though, that OC will get some snow at the beginning of the storm on Wed night.)

Again, here is the bottom line. It will snow Thursday. We will clean it up Friday (have us a Valentine's Day), and then let the good weekend times roll! It's just a snowstorm.

Have a good day, and find some smiles.

Marty B!
