Lafayette Beats Short-Handed Loyola 61-44

EASTON, Pa. (AP) -- Dan Trist scored 14 points and Seth Hinrichs added 13 as Lafayette beat short-handed Loyola (Md.) 61-44 on Wednesday.

Loyola won the first meeting of the season behind 25 points by Dylon Cormier, but he did not play in this contest after having surgery on his left hand. The senior was averaging 21.2 points per game and 5.8 rebounds.

Michael Hoffman had nine points and four blocks to lead Lafayette's (7-17, 3-10 Patriot) defensive effort. The Leopards held Loyola to 33 percent, on 16-of-48 shooting, and forced 17 turnovers.

Franz Rassman and R.J. Williams had 10 points apiece for Loyola (10-14, 5-8). Williams was just 3 of 10 from the field and the Greyhounds hit one of their 14 3-point attempts.

Lafayette led 27-22 at the break and went on a 24-8 run to start the second half. Longwood made two field goals in the first 11 minutes after halftime.
