Judges Deny Early Release To Man In Slaying

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A request from a man seeking early release from prison for his role in his estranged wife's murder has been denied.

A three-judge panel in Frederick County Circuit Court on Monday denied the request from William Fagan of Walkersville.

Fagan, 58, pleaded guilty to murder conspiracy in the shooting of Deborah Fagan, 30, in 1992. He was sentenced to life with all but 10 years suspended and was released in 2000. A drunken driving conviction in 2003 violated his probation and sent him back to prison for life.

The News-Post of Frederick reports that Fagan's lawyer argued before the panel that he had received no treatment for alcohol abuse when he was arrested in 2003.
