WEATHER BLOG: Storms On Wednesday?

Conditions are very pleasant despite a stubborn area of thick clouds. Temps are mild overall, and the clouds won't be very detrimental to the rise in temperature Tuesday afternoon so we are still looking at highs in the mid 60s for central Maryland.

Wednesday, we are looking for the possibility of a few rain showers and then some strong thunderstorms by the afternoon as the deepening low pressure center approaches. On the back side of this system, it will get very cold with strong winds later Wednesday night and Thursday. It is possible to see a few snow showers on the backside of this system, particularly north and west of the city, but we are not expecting any kind of significant snow accumulations Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

Thursday will be the coldest day of the week and chilly air filters in behind this storm system with highs in the low/mid 30s. Ironically, we will snap right back into the 50s by Friday or Saturday.
