Wise Routs Whitman In 4A Finals 70-43

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Trevor Brown scored 16 points to lead Henry A. Wise to an easy 70-43 victory over Whitman in the Class 4A state final Saturday night.

It was Wise's first state championship, and the Pumas finished the season with a 20-game winning streak and a 24-2 record. Whitman ended the season with a 21-7 mark.

Wise simply had too much size, speed and quickness. The Pumas scored the game's first eight points, led 22-7 after the first quarter and never looked back.

Brown led Wise by going 6 for 6 from the field. Devin Moore added 14 points, LaVonte Sanders had 13 and 10 Pumas scored in this game.

Josh Fried led Whitman with 12 points, but the Vikings never got going on offense. They shot just 28 percent from the field (14 for 51) and finished with only two assists.
